Men are being killed by the enemy in higher numbers, from addictions, suicide, blue-collar accidents, homicide, heart disease, and gluttony in unmatched numbers. Another reason for pursuing this initiative is that I believe it is my calling to try to stop the enemies’ unsought of men and turn the tide by freeing those taken captive. I thought I would try to join you in the fight. |
I have been married for 32 years and have a 25-year-old daughter from that marriage. I was married for 5 years and had 3 children prior. I have two grandchildren. | I just attended the April Warrior Heart Encounter and read THOAW and Kind Me. I had two medical meetings during the Warrior Heart Encounter. I have watched all four Elder-Sage Initiative Video Conversations. | I was about 12 years old when I read the gospels where Jesus said if you have seen me, you have seen the Father. I then began to read everything Jesus said and did as looking at God. I saw Jesus as the way God communicated with me, talked to me, and demonstrated how to be in a relationship with others, especially how I was to view my relationship with evil. My father was young, alcoholic, and violent. But I wanted a father like Jesus. So, I was baptized. | I lost my first family due to being engulfed in shame, powerlessness, and lack of attachment pain. I spent 7 years using drugs and alcohol. I was at the point where I judged myself useless. I was going to end it with a 357. A voice woke me out of the delusion. I believe that voice was Jesus. I was told, “There is more, and I'm not done yet.” I have been sober for 36 years. Some of my family came back. When I do the heart work, the power of the mercy that only Jesus’ story can deliver in a world of darkness and pain allows for the disconnect from the heart. | A childhood wound can be formed from experiences with caregivers such as mothers or fathers. It is not the event itself, but the unresolved emotional effects carried into adulthood from the event. Implicit learning is perceived as true but is a lie. When these wounds do not heal satisfactorily, they quickly open again, and can result in disastrous relationships. Men are often unaware of the effect of these wounds, hidden behind a self-constructed amnesic wall within them pushed down in their psyche. An agreement is made based on a lie, and a vow is an oath, usually in someone's name at someone's will, often with some object or person used as an exchange. There has to be a gain-and-loss bond in the vow. There is always a payoff for the vow. Some vows were made with blood. |
It was show-and-tell in Ms. Jefferson’s 2nd-grade class, and I was up, so I dove into fabricating another exciting excursion with my father and me. Last week, we went skydiving. This week, it was racing cars. The teacher interrupted me to tell me that if I kept lying, she would make me sit down. But I had to lie because I did things like learning to open a steel beer can with a church key and making myself worthwhile on Saturday mornings as Dad listened to stock car races. So, I kept lying. She told me to sit down. She said she would send me to the principal's office if I continued my lying. So that weekend, our family went on a road trip to my grandparent's home. My father drove this old car, and the headlights would randomly short out, so he put me on the hood of the car with a big flashlight tied to me, and I would hold on with one hand and shine the light down on the white line so he could see to drive at night. By the time the lights began to short out, he was a full six in and had started taking pulls off the 5th he had with him. His hands were steady, the car swerved, and I was blamed for not holding the light steady. Finally, he just stopped the car and put the useless failure in the vehicle. Well, that following week, when it was show-and-tell time, I wanted to please my teacher but still share with the class and be seen and known. So, I turned from my sinful ways and told the truth. As I told the story about my trip to my grandparents' house, not leaving out one incident, my teacher stopped me and sent me to the principal's office. She was distraught with me, and the class laughed at me as I walked out of the room to go to the principal's office. That experience was filled with the shame of not being enough, the pain of being alone and being ostracized, and the powerlessness and fear of not being able to do anything about it because there was no one and nowhere for my real story to land and be heard. I was a wandering pilgrim reaching for a place or a person to know me. | I grew up in a family involved in the occult through a public yet secret organization. Also, at the age of 31, I was taken under the wing of a Jesuit who indoctrinated me in the occultism of the Rosicrucian philosophy. I am on the board of directors of an organization that counsels victims of trauma-based mind control who have often been enticed by a church masquerading for Intelligent Evil (IE). Paul exposes IE in Eph 6, which comes through “strongholds,” as Paul outlines in 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 that take hold of the minds of God’s image-bearers, thus taking the temple hostage. The prize is our minds and hearts to separate us from God and each other. IE wants to utilize us and maneuver us by crippling our lives and effectiveness to bring about the Kingdom of God on earth. God has delivered me of these IE strongholds mentioned above, and I have a measure of faith that allows me to face this systematic IE. Spiritual warfare is done on this side of the unseen realm with what Paul mentioned in Eph. 6 to rescue the hearts and minds of men. Here is how a good friend and Army major describes rescue warriors: "So That Others May Live" is the motto of the search and rescue units. That is how I view what spiritual warfare in the biblical sense of the word is attempting to do. |
Once, I asked God, “How do I go forward from here?” This phrase quickly came to my mind: " Feed my lamps.” I don’t know if the words came from God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit; I can't prove it, but I believe they are trustworthy enough to guide my life. | I have an undergraduate degree in psychology from Campbell University and 112 credit hours of Biblical studies and education from Mid-Atlantic Christian University. I have operated a licensed private practice as an alcohol and drug addiction counselor for the past 28 years and have been an NC-certified alcohol-drug counselor since 8/25/1994. I operated domestic violence programs, anger management programs, and alcohol and drug education programs. I have spent 1,000s of hours listening to 1,000 men’s stories from atheists, agnostics, and followers of Christ. In the past 10 years, I began to focus on the wounded hearts of men, helping them take down the barriers and conditioning used to protect their wounds, deterring them from their calling from God. | King Me, The Heart of a Warrior, The Screwtape Letters, Bondage Breaker, Victory over the Darkness, Mere Christianity | Scott Anderson, Joe Stone and Rob Ferguson | Monday through Friday between 10 and 4 or Sunday and Sunday after 2pm. | Rob | Ferguson | rferguson@hbusinc.com | 9197304348

I am reading Michael Thompson's books. | I received Christ as personal Savior on March 15, 1969. I confessed and repented of my sins and asked Jesus to come into my life as my Lord and Savior. I received His vicarious atonement as payment for my sins and was adopted by God the Father as an eternal son. | I share it frequently from the pulpit, but the last time I shared it personally was in a counseling session in my office. The lady prayed and trusted Christ as her Savior. | I believe wounds are synonymous with scars and are indicative of healing and a difficult journey. Vows are commitments, and agreements are mutually shared vows. | I was a youth pastor at a local church once. I confronted the Pastor according to Matthew 18. He got furious at me and told me I needed to resign. I refused to, so he fired me. | While I know Ephesians 6 says we wrestle against principalities and dark forces, it also says we have the whole armor God with which we can extinguish the fiery darts of the evil one. The sin nature is a formidable foe but "greater is He who is in us than he who is i the world". Anytime the enemy tries to engage me in battle, I turn to the whole armor of God. | I was recently preparing for a church council meeting. I felt a strong internal nudging towards starting a new ministry. God moved in me to give me the idea for the ministry and the church council was all on board with the idea. | I have been in ministry for 35 years and have extensive experience in counseling. | King Me, The Heart of a Warrior | Small Group | weekdays (except Wednesdays) | Bill | Weaver | wmweaver@myactv.net | 3017307247

I worked with the owner who became my close friend and my elder sage. I worked with him until he died in 2022. Working with him made me realize how important it is to have a sage leading you. While I worked there, I was the counselor for the boy's summer camps. I realized how important it is to be a sage in a man's life. I feel like I can be a good Elder Sage. i |
Married for forty-five years, we have two sons. One is forty-five years old, and the other is forty- three years old. We have one grandson who is eighteen years old and three granddaughters, one thirteen years old, one eleven years old and one nine years old. |
In 2010 I went to a Top Gun retreat. I got there early to help set up and help in any way could. The next year I was part of the I Team. The following year my wife and I attended a Zoweh marriage retreat. | When I was a kid, my father used to take us to church. When we got there, he would drop us off and then go hang out with the other men in the parking lot, until we got done with Sunday school and church. I wanted to grow up so I would not have to go to church. I wanted to hang out in the parking lot. One Sunday they were teaching about how much Jesus loves us, that he died for each one of us. Then I didn't want to be like the men in the parking lot. I wanted to be inside finding out about Jesus. I was only about 8 or 9 years old. | In 2018, I road my bicycle from Georgia to California for a 3-month mission trip, sharing Christ with everyone we could. We shared Christ with lots of people and 21 came to Christ. |
Wounds: things that hurt someone deep down inside their hearts. Sometime the only way it will be fixed is by the Holy Spirit. It's something you keep to yourself. Vows: promises but a whole lot deeper. A vow can be good or bad. Agreements: agreements are things you are accepting as true about yourself or something else. They can be with God, in which case they are true and helpful, or with the devil, in which case they are lies and harmful which we accept as true, anyway. |
During a bad time of our life, the paster told us we were not needed, not wanted. At the time there were two major things going wrong in our life. Neither one was a church problem. At a time when we needed our church family, that pastor took it away. It was a two-year battle, but even if men failed us, Jesus was with us. | Continuing with the story in wounding, that was 2 years of hell. Every day was a battle. The devil was after me every day. I felt like everything I was doing was wrong. But the Holy Spirit was always there, too, comforting me and giving me strength when I felt like I couldn't go any further. This was the first time I ever felt spiritual warfare. As a result of that time, I know that I will never be alone. |
The first time I remember hearing from God (and it is still the start of something great) is the night that the Holy Spirit led me to Jesus. It was a Wednesday night church meeting. I still remember when someone there said, "Someone is ready to receive Jesus as their personal Savior." There were two chairs in the middle of the room. The next thing I knew, I was in one of the chairs. Then people started praying over me. At that time, I felt a warm loving feeling like I'd never felt before. I felt the love of Christ was real. | I received suicide prevention training when I was in the army. That was over 30 years ago. This training showed me how to listen to people when they talk. I used this training when I was a supervisor to help coworkers when they were going through times of extreme stress, and when I worked with kids at camp who were struggling with personal problems. I think this training will help me as an Elder Sage. |

I attended the recent Zoweh Heart of a Warrior encounter and found my heart touched and find many pieces coming together in an integrated way. I think it’s what you call being oriented. I want to continue this journey both for myself but also to enhance working with others. | I have been married to my wife Jerri for 44 years. We have 2 children- son Jordan age 35 and daughter Brianna age 34. We have 1 granddaughter Ava age 15. | I have read Heart of a Warrior and attended the recent Encounter weekend. Love both the book and the Encounter weekend. I want to continue this journey. | Age 17 I finally surrendered to Jesus and it radically redirected my life. Being raised in a church I knew a lot about Jesus but really had not connected at a heart level. | Lots of times over the nearly 50 years I have been seeking after Jesus. Everyone I get to spend time with just opens up and asks questions and we talk about the spiritual journey with Jesus. I usually don’t have to bring it up. It happens naturally as we get to know each other. After the recent Encounter weekend, that next week I shared what Jesus was doing inside my heart with 4 other guys and all 4 had tears in their eyes. | I have been an avid reader of Eldredge’s books for the past 15 years or so. Just started this week with a fresh group of men going through the Fathered By God resource - this is the 5th time facilitating for me. I am growing to identify in my own life and help others to do the same in theirs to discover their wounds, understand the effect on their lives and the vows/agreement made that have been based on untruths about themselves and God. This is the pathway to freedom allowing us to become what God had in mind for us. | Alright, let’s dig in. At the recent Encounter weekend I picked up deeply the message don’t treat the symptom but travel upstream to the headwaters where the wounds began. I was already aware of the wound from my father related to his inability to enter into the world of my heart. He was a good man, a strong believer but uncomfortable with talking about things from the heart. We did the experience of writing a letter to our younger self which was powerful for me. I think I got to the headwaters and also am aware there are some tributaries I need to explore as well. I reflected back asking Jesus to show me the headwaters and here is what happened. The wounds from my dad got sharper in focus and I also saw a wound from my mother . I didn’t think I had any from her. Here is what I saw. When I was preschool age I had some seizures and the doctors told my parents they thought I had leukemia. Imagine the terror in a mother’s heart. My wound from her is more of the hover mother. Add to this a recollection of a moment in the hospital where the doctor and a team of interns gathered around standing me up on a table in my underwear to examine my legs. It started a message in me something is wrong with me. Indeed I do have something wrong physically which was not leukemia but rather a vitamin d deficiency causing me to have bowed legs - a physical deformity that my classmates in school teased me about. I learned to laugh with them while dying inside. Throughout my life my dad was absent. He didn’t go to the doctor appointments, didn’t talk about the wounds in my heart, didn’t talk about sex, didn’t talk about his struggles. I have no memory of him saying “I am proud of you.” I was 64 when my dad who was suffering from Alzheimer’s and couldn’t even put a sentence together some how had a moment of clarity and put a sentence together and said, “Greg, I want you to know how proud I am of you.” I seizures already on the path of healing but what a memory I will cherish. I was left like so many men trying to figure things out on their own. No one to coach, no one to pick you up when you failed, no one to help interpret accurately what you are experiencing. I had the image of a father who excelled in all he did - high school class president, star of the basketball team. Excellent student, awarded engineer in his career, strong believer active in church, HOA presidents. That’s my dad’s image I felt compelled toward as that is what a man is….or so I believed. So I became the good boy, excelled at nearly everything I did through hard work, how to get people to like me, intellectually stay ahead of others, achieve at work. Excellent in my faith. Become the man others admired. Achieve, achieve, achieve to feel good about me. |
I do see we are in the midst of a war. The powers of darkness have already lost me when Jesus came into my heart and are now bent on keeping bogged down any way they can. Overcommitment, negative self message of not being good enough, wanting to prove myself, etc.. I am learning to interpret whose voice am I listening to, my wounded self, powers of darkness, or the voice of God. Pretty easy to determine if something is coming from the heart of God and if it’s consistent with His nature and character. I pray prayers both silently and verbally commanding powers of darkness to be bound and cast out. I ask for Jesus and his warring angels to stand guard over me. I ask for further insight from the Holy Spirit. | The most frequent way this happens is I follow up with a phone call, a text, a visit as God places them on my heart. I frequently hear comments “can’s believe the timing of your call I need someone to talk with”. I ask for wisdom, insight, guidance for talking with people. God says ask them about this or that thing in their life. I try to follow that rather than try to figure out how to help in my own best thoughts. | No real training. I was successful in my sales career as I was good at listening to my customers rather than always trying to sell them something. With the men I talk with I found it very helpful to just listen to their story rather than make it about me or what I think they should do. I have a 35 year-old son in New York City and a 34-year-old daughter here in Roanoke Virginia. | I have been a loyal follower and believer at Zoweh since 2008. I attended My king celebration at EagleEyrie In 2017 and participated in approximately 28 events in Virginia and North Carolina since the beginning. | I was baptized as an infant, and my connection has been ongoing through a drip irrigation process throughout my life. There have been times of experienced a downfall of water and other times a drip. | On two occasions, facilitated a group of three men for a weekend/Gary Barkalow conferences. On the second group, I was allowed to tell my story to the three men that I had spent the weekend with. Of the six men that I got to know, there are four men that are active in Zoweh today And one is probably reading this application now. | I have experienced and pontificated upon my wounds, vowels, and agreements and understand the significance and subsequent process of healing training and ministry . | I experienced infidelity by my father that branded my thoughts on sin, Sexuality, and fatherhood. I was present and audibly heard this infidelity and experienced the fallout and subsequent snowballing of the effects. | We live in the physical realm, however, what takes place in the spiritual realm is unseen, and unheard. What takes place in the spiritual realm is ultimately manifested in what we see here and do in our everyday life. Through the spoken word of scripture and hearing from God Through other people, places and things we are guided by the Holy Spirit Each day to become more Christlike. Every moment we are growing into or shrinking from our oneness And connectedness With our creator. We were created to create. How we create with God and through God to ourselves, and our neighbors begins a new each morning. |
One year ago, I left my church of 70 years. After several years of prayer and guidance from my Zoweh brothers and family I have gained a knowledge of the difference in religion and walking with God. After all, isn’t this what we were created to do? I was baptized in a very conservative Baptist Church about 10 years ago, largely due to my wife's influence. My wife and I have made some good friends, but have somewhat gotten discontent with some of the teaching. As some of the gentlemen mentioned in the sessions, I see elder sage as opportunity to grow and make a difference in retirement through Christ. It is exciting to me to have an opportunity to meet men in similar position and make a difference. Not sure if I meet the qualifications, but interested in program and having an opportunity to develop skills that could help younger men in this crazy world. Christ is the only answer. | I am in my second marriage. The first marriage I was married about 19 years and had 2 sons. My second marriage is in my 19th year. My sons are 45 and 42 and are openly non believers. My first son is a recovering alcoholic. He was a very sever alcoholic, but has gone about 20 months without drinking. He lives in Raleigh, NC in a half way house. Just found out he has large gambling debt. I have been helping him financially, so what he was using it for is a big concern. My youngest son lost his wife about 3 years ago to cancer. He seems to have a lot of bitterness. I have no grandchildren My wife has 1 daughter who has 3 kids, 5, 3 and 2 months. I have gotten very close to them. |
My oldest son has befriended an older man who he meet at AA in Raleigh. He is a believer and goes to Vintage Church. I go quite often to encourage my son to go and have become friends with the gentleman. He encouraged my son and I to go to the retreat in the fall in Georgia. I have meet other men through these contacts. My son and I plan to go to the retreat 4/25 in Virginia. I have supported and impressed with a gentleman named Andy Poe, who I believe is part of your staff. I am on your email list and as I mentioned above have listened to sessions several times on elder sage., |
I think I spend lot of time reading and becoming more familiar with the Bible. I have a lot of issues with forgiveness and guilt from my past. I struggle sometimes with my personal relationship with Jesus. Feel like I really started some connection through my sons and the Men's Group at the church they are associated with in Raleigh and Virginia Beach. I was not a good father. I am so thankful the Lord has given me a second chance through his son Jesus Christ. I need to make the most of it through the relationship with Christ. |
Some Christians have a deep testimony to share. Not sure I do. In retirement given me times to thank about how thankful I should be. Also chance to look at my false self through other Christian relationships I have developed. | Becoming more familiar with my false self and wounds from my past, mostly forgiveness and guilt. Little familiarity with vows and agreements? | At the retreat this fall, one exercise we went through was to make list of wounding movements from the past and then write a letter to ourselves. I spent the whole time writing a 4 page list from when I was 12 to 18. | Everyday... a war goes on with the devil. I think you need to humble yourself before Christ and determine your true character. To make strides in spiritual warfare, I need to make character changes. Sometimes being a certain way a long time, even if you know you should change, it is hard because you are set in your old ways. Knowing through Christ what is on the other side perseverance, self control and discipline are key. You can not isolate yourself. | The retreat this fall was thinking at the end that it applied more to younger men and how they have an opportunity to break their chain from the past and make a difference in the lives of their younger sons. I was thinking it was too late for me with sons at 42 and 4. God spoke to me and said be there for them now. I have been given a second chance though Christ. I need to make the most of it through Christ. | Very little. Truly listening to understand before trying to be understand is difficult for me. We serve Him by serving others. Perhaps this is what He is calling me to. God has given me a lot of knowledge. Of Him. Of the Bible. But knowledge is not wisdom. How can I use this gift? How SHOULD I be using this gift? |
I've been married 50 years. We have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. My children have been hurt by the church, so their commitment is erratic. When growing up, I defended myself or I was undefended. I knew my mother loved me. But she had her own problems dealing with my father. |
I attended Zoweh in Roanoke when King Me was passed out. Michael gave me the "Oklahoma pen" because we have more Oklahoma in common than I would have believed. I participated in discussion of the book with Troy, Stephen, Michael, and Jay. And viewed the 4 part series on Elder-Sage. |
I was brought up going to church every Sunday. I had a Sunday School teacher who taught me that if I believe in Christ, I must serve him. Years later, my wife and I attended a Bible study. We only intended to go once, because we "knew" that the leader wasn't who we wanted to listen to. After going for almost a year, the light bulb above my head turned on. I already knew being "good enough" wasn't what God was seeking from me. But now I understood that accepting Him meant accepting His free gift. I had to accept Him as my Lord and Savior. And all that implies. In return, I received eternal life. With Him. |
I have given my testimony a couple of times when it seemed appropriate. Otherwise, it has been in bits and pieces. Usually in Bible Study, or similar environments. Acknowledging our own mistakes and joys is a good teaching tool. | We're all wounded. The worst wounds are created by those we care most about. Most are caused by carelessness and thoughtlessness more than deliberate intent. Knowing that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. We will always make mistakes. More than anything, I don't want to repeat them. Vows are easy to say. How much do we mean them? I hate catching myself in a lie. So I would rather not make a vow (or agreement) than risk failure to do what I promise. Does that make my too afraid to commit myself? Perhaps. |
My most memorable was when I wounded someone else. At a weekend church retreat, The leader and I were talking about my experience. I had a problem with one portion of the weekend, and that's all I was talking about. The leader was hurt because all he was hearing was criticism. And he told me so. I stopped where I was, thought about what I had said, and realized he was right. Everything I was saying was negative. He needed to hear some of that, but there was so much more that deserved praise. I immediately apologized. And told him what was very right. We became closer friends after that. He gave me more credit than I deserved for admitting I was wrong and he was right. I think I have sought better balance since then. But I still get caught in my own feelings at times. |
I was a member of a church that literally split in half. That and other happenings proved to me that there is a source of evil. Satan does exist. | My Bible knowledge is because of my attendance in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). One time, two discussion groups were put together because of a missing discussion leader. There was a question that I wrote what I considered to be a simplistic, rote answer. But something in me (a small voice) said I had to make sure that answer was spoken. When the leader was about to move to the next question, I spoke up and gave my answer. Afterward, a gentleman from the other class came up to me. "Thank you. Thank you. Thank You. I was always told we could KNOW we would go to heaven, but I never understood how. Your answer cleared up my thoughts, and now I understand. I do know that I will go to heaven." That was the Holy Spirit speaking through me. It was not my thought, my answer, but the message he needed to hear. I think God has used me other times. But never with the certainty of that experience. | No | King Me, The Screwtape Letters, Mere Christianity | Small Group | Monday or Friday after 10:00. Tuesday after 2:00. Not Wednesday or Thursday. It was not until after many of these occasions that the Holy Spirit affirmed my being trusted with the heart that was just offered to me. I was then reminded of Michael Thompson‘s charge that when a man was walking with God, oriented and settled in heart , God would bring mission to him. It off times left me weeping in humility to have been found worthy of such an honor. Having gone through the experiences in my life, all its wounding moments, and the subsequent chaos there of, then the journey of recovery and restoration that God offered in my intimate pursuit of Him, I believe he has equipped me, and is equipping me, for such a role as this. Let me make it clear, He is my only boast. It is not me but Christ, who lives in me, and in whom I strive to abide. | I am humbly and gratefully, married to my beautiful wife of 26 years, Kerry. We have a blended family of five children, and recently celebrated the birth of our fifth grandchild. | I believe, with the exception of last year, I’ve been to a Heart Of A Warrior weekend every year since 2014, the first one or two being Top Gun weekends. I’ve attended one Heart Of A Warrior advanced weekend, and been a medic on several other weekends. I have read Wild at heart , Heart Of A Warrior, Search and Rescue, It’s Your Call, and a number of other John Eldridge books and books referenced in the Heart Of A Warrior weekends | While I always July 1985 as being when I was saved I’ve since realized that I may have only acknowledged Jesus as savior but had not given him worship. There were many years of trying to be what I thought. God wanted me to be, found myself feeling miserably, no matter how hard I tried. The year before my first Top Gun weekend I was active in church, and had started a men’s ministry that I facilitated with what little understanding I had at the time. By the grace of God, in that first year, I was introduced to Zoweh. That was the beginning of the relationship with God I could never have imagined. I believe that was when I first experienced Jesus in a personal way. The rest is history, and that still being written. | Usually, if I’m talking to a man, my walk with God comes up. But as for sharing my Jesus story, most recently was this past September when the Archbishop of The First Cathedral here in Bloomfield, Connecticut, called me out of the audience at a Tuesday night Bible study, saying that God had put me in his heart and he wanted me to bring the message the following week. I humbly but excitedly responded that if he was offering I gladly accepted. My first thought as to what to teach on was intimacy with God. It is the focus of my heart and any conversation I can work it into. But, I committed to God to seek Him for what He would have me to teach on. A couple of topics came up in that week, and I was convinced on Thursday of what He’d wanted me to speak on. It wasn’t until Friday that He told me to go ahead and speak on intimacy with Him. While I wrote pages of notes, when Tuesday night came, I found that the notes became only a reference, the Holy Spirit gave me the freedom to speak from my heart and just tell my story, which, as always, included many a reference to all I’d learned from my Zoweh experiences, as well as many testimonies of how God has ministered to me as a result of my intimacy with Him. It was a most humbling and gratifying experience to hear, that night and the weeks following , the positive feedback from those who were there and even some who had joined online that night. To God be the glory! | Those are the ways in which a man responds to the wounding moments in his life, when the enemy, capitalizing on his weakened state of heart and mind, sold him a bill of lies about who he was and/or who God was. A man walks away from those moments oft times vowing to never, or to always. Or he makes agreements, unwittingly with the lies about his identity, believing himself to be less significant than the role for which God created him to play in the larger story. | One of the first wounding moments or experiences that God took me back to the onset of this journey after my first weekend was when I was about, I believe five or six years old, if my mother was right. My dad had taken me haying at a friend’s farm in a neighboring town. When night had come, he and the friends we’ve been working with went out drinking. He left me at one of the friends’ house and never came back for me. My mother found me the next morning. It should be a journey from house to house in search of me. God took me back to that moment, or experience, and told me that that’s where my fear of abandonment had come from, that I wasn’t worth coming back for. That had manifested itself in my breaking up with many women in my youth thinking I wasn’t worth it so before they left me, I moved on to the next. That was one of many that God has since shown me. | I am most grateful to Michael Thompson‘s explanation of the spiritual battle into which we were born. The battle between good and evil, and light and darkness. The battle for my heart from which, as Proverbs 4:23 teaches, all that I do comes from. With that knowledge came the clarity I needed to partner with God for the restoration and healing of my own heart so that I might then fight for the hearts of all those God would entrust to me. I became more intentional in both my own restoration and discerning the opportunities God presented with my increasing orientation. | I already shared one time in my response about a wounding moment, but another time was when God took me back to a time when again I was a young boy. Dad had taken me with him to somewhere where they were moving dirt with wheelbarrows. Wanting to impress and prove myself to my dad, when a full one was left unattended for a moment, I tried to move it but instead tipped it over dumping out all the dirt that then had to be reloaded. My dad’s response was disappointment and disdain. The message I received, as God explained to me, was that I didn’t measure up; that I wasn’t enough. It was a message that was reaffirmed countless times over the course of my young and adult life, with every praise, big or small, was always followed with a “but”. There was always something I could’ve done better. It manifested in a debilitating perfectionism that, if I wasn’t confident I could do something perfect, I did nothing at all. It is something I still am walking through with God. | Just my experiences both meeting with Medics at Heart of a Warrior weekends as well as serving as the same. Jim Chenet has been a big influence in that area. I confess though that I oft times offered validation as God revealed things in my listening, and I’m not sure that was part of the program, so I haven’t signed in for that role recently so as not to misrepresent. | King Me, The Heart of a Warrior, Search and Rescue, Hearing God, It’s Your Call, Wild At Heart, Fathered By God, Mere Christianity | Exploring More Podcast | For my brothers and sisters at Zoweh…any time you want!! | Marcus | Evans | marcusevans22@live.com | 8608308133

He referenced Zoweh's sage ministry and provided the contact info. | I am a recovered Catholic. Relationship with God was not anything i ever was taught. As an adult i found myself with a blessed life in family, business and recognized this was no accident and more that one person needs for themselves. that kicked off my search for purpose. Faith entered in and i recognized that the meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away. Thru faith in Jesus Christ i have developed much deeper faith, have a relationship with God,and see my role as servant to the people God has placed in my life. | Currently, i have a friend who is searching for meaning, faith,God in his life. He knew i am a believer and reached out to me with his questions. I recognized that the believers he had been speaking with were using the Bible as a baseball bat to beat him into belief. He knew me and felt comfortable that he could have a conversation about faith and not feel pressured into believing. He wants to believe, yet wants all the answers and has trouble taking that leap of faith. thru the many mentoring programs offered at our church i realized that it is not my responsibility to bring Kenny to Christ. That is the holy spirits job. My job is to be the facilitator . With Kenny wanting all the answers, i first shared how i came to Christ. That worked for me. Kenny needs to accept on his terms and the conversations have been going on for a few years. I said to Kenny, our small group from church has been praying that the Holy spirit work on your heart to accept Christ. his response being i don't feel anything. Yesterday he texted me asking when is our next men's group meeting? Progress!!! | wounds- we all have had hurts, disappointments, and unmet expectations in our lives. Some inflicted by people, others by circumstances. Sometimes these wounds keep us prisoner. Things that have been done or we did to others. Jesus Christ is the healer to remove separation between ourselves, our wounds and God. Vow- a promise, commitments, obligations we make to others, self, and God. spiritual obligations. agreements- is a contract made between people. not a spiritual obligation. |
it is said, if you want to find out about someones character just place a large amount of $ in front of them and see how they react. That was the position i was placed in as an executor of 2 aunts estates. Both very wealthy, although that was never known while they were alive. they lived very modestly and did not show that they were financially well off. My parents had a different perspective. upon the deaths i was appointed executor and trustee. i was pressured by my parents to contest the will and administer the trust to their advantage. i stated to them, "that is not what i was asked to do by my late aunts". the net results were separation from my parents. they chose to have little to no relationship with their new grandchildren or me and my wife. Much hurt, anger, frustration was felt. My parents eventually passed away. Never was there an apology for what was said or done and the relationships destroyed and lost. Many lessons about forgiveness were learned. The realization that i will never get an apology from a dead person ,and needing a way to heal from the hurt, anger, resentment all came together in the first few years of my discovering that i can have a relationship with God and not just follow a series of rules. Thru that relationship with God, i found the ability to forgive my parents behavior and recognized they too were broken and hurt people who did not have a relationship with Christ and only thought of themselves. That same experience has carried thru with all my interactions with people and i moved from judging actions to recognizing they do not know any different. the perspective shifts and the response and relationship changes. |
Satin is real!! as a small business owner we had our challenges during Covid. Tenants were able to not pay rent and we were prohibited from evicting them. Most people were responsible and continued with their obligations. There was a group of about 15 who chose to take advantage and did. The process to receive county reimbursement was long and had lots of paperwork to fill out. After almost a year and a half of this as well as having no workers to maintain the buildings and doing it all myself, is was done filling out forms and wait months to be paid. i was emotionally, physically, and mentally at the end of my rope. I refused to fill out more applications for covid rent relief. at one of the evictions the constable showed up and attempted to remove the person from the unit. no answer at the door. He went in. Found the person dead of a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The guilt and sense or responsibility i felt for being in the position to help that person by filling out the assistance forms and not doing it was terrible. upon reaching out for help to a faith based center to help navigate this, the parable of the talents came to mind. I realized that it was satin behind all this. Satin wanted to pull me away from God and shake my faith in God by condemning me . "You call yourself a Christian and did not help that person in need". God placed me in the position of responsibility to do His works. Satin wanted to use this a way to pull me off track and stop Gods works |
As a believer, works matter AFTER salvation. the combination of life experiences i had caused me to have a calling to try to reach people when they are young and able to be directed in positive way and away from all the problems the secular world wants to place in their lives. my wife and i raised 3 children and that was about the extent of my skills with kids. i found myself being drawn to an organization in town called "the drop". a faith based place where kids could come after school and have a safe place to hang and be with others. this was run my several local churches. I said no way! i don't know anything about kids and relating with them beyond my own kids. I found myself driving one day in that area and my truck ended up parked in front of the sign on the building. my feet walked in and my mouth introduced myself to the staff working there. This was not me! I completed all my clearances to work with kids and volunteered at the drop till covid shut it down, almost 2 years. the kids would interact on their terms and eventually we learned their names and their situations. I look back on that experience and realize it was God calling me to do something completely outside my comfort zone and waiting to see if i would follow His command. | No formal training., but my friend Kenny would say i am a good listener and am able to engage in his story and navigate his faith journey at his pace, not mine. | To Be Told , It’s Your Call, Wild At Heart | Small Group | any

A lot stories in my life, but just recently I shared with a neighbor about what felt like God was teaching me about the Gospel. We were talking about how messed up the world is. I shared with him what I thought God was sharing with me, the Gospel in one sentence. " I make all things new." He is not finished yet and he wants us to partner with him. |
Wild at Heart and Zoweh | My mom giving my youngest brother final authority over inheritance. He cheated every one in the family out everything he possibly could. | Especially in my family. We have a daughter that has not spoken to her mother in 5 years. She will do anything in her power to hurt her mother. She has a lifestyle drugs and partying and blames her mother for everything she does wrong. A very vengeful spirit. We have raised most of her children. So we always have to be on guard. |
He gave me a sword engraved with the message for me to echo his mission to heal broken hearts. When I show this sword to anyone and tell them the story of how I received it they know it was from Him. |

Not thru me, but thru Him. | My father was a PTSD WW2 Vet who treated me and my 3 siblings in mentally abusive situations. My wife and I, married in 1988, now 36 yrs, raised our 3 boys to be men of God in the Pikes Peak mountains. We have 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons from ages 18 to 5. Rita and I now live in Maryland with our dog Zuzu. |
Just what I have heard from Rusty Eckman and Flip from Waterboyz for Jesus |
I was 7 in Stark, FL with my parents in a camp and there was a revival tent where we were staying. In the meeting I felt His presence, like a warmth of joy. He would meet me in many ways and shapes since. | I shared as a 38 yr old w a 17yr old getting ready to go in the Army in 2000 over a period of 6 weeks. He was not receptive at first having no father of his own. I tried to show and give him the love, peace and understanding God had given me. Jeremy died in Iraq in 2002, but he gave his life in 2000. |
Wounds, all of us have them John 10:10 Healing a wounded heart starts with admitting them, naming them Vows I make when wounded can keep us from His love, agreements like, i will prove to dad I wont quit, to let God break any agreement being in His way. |
13 years old being beaten by 4 15/16 year olds while on Sunday on church grounds while Christian adults stood by and laughed. | I believe it hovers waiting for weakness, insidious. I believe watch prayer is needed for each of us. I know because as a little 3 yr old boy, not yet knowing Jesus 'something' in the shape of a sickly orange fuzzy grinning ball of light appeared to me in my basement and said "Worship me!". I stamped little foot and said, 'No!'. It smiled, said "We shall see!" And it disappeared. No one believed me. But my God, Son, and Holy Spirit have had and will have my back and their plan for me exists on this earth until I draw my last breath! | I have had a recurring vision...I am in a beautiful garden with a golden path leading to Glory ahead. There is also a staor where A person at a time can walk, leading to a multitude walking into darkness. A voice said I could choose either path, to walk on or walk down and bring people up one at a time. I have been wrestling. I believe I am on the helping path. | No but I need it. I keep going to retreats and having younger men gravitate to me, repenting or receiving God. | The Heart of a Warrior, The Screwtape Letters, Mere Christianity | Evenings after 7, will not be available 2/8 thru 2/20

I miss my Zoweh involvement from my time living in Raleigh 2013-2014. I have been in men's groups since then, but few had the Zoweh DNA. | 3 married children with 9 grandchildren. Two daughters and son-in-laws with Cru Campus Ministry full tie and each with four children in Acworth, GA and Spartanburg, SC. My son and wife have slept in sseparate bedrooms in the same house with a son who turned four last November. Their broken relationship has grieved Jocelyn, my extended family and me. Pray for God's breakthrough for Daniel and Victoria Barry. They live in Simpsonville, SC 15 minutes from us. | MIchael's Wed. am studies 15 months. Heart of a Warrior Encounter twice 2013 and 2014. Tony Colon's Monday night group 15 months. Shooting shotguns at a fund raiser. | I trusted Christ at age 20 on June 20, 1973 at a 5 day sports camp in Santa Barbara, CA. I was not raised in the church or by a family that beieved in God. They never said grace before a meal themselves but let me do so when I was with them. | I led a Bible study in my fraternity my first year as a beilever. A year later I jwent back as a huddle leader at the same sports camp. A year later I joined Campus Crusade for Christ 1975-2007. | Wounds--scars from hurtful expereinces in life. Vows--speaking ungodly beliefs about yourself, about another or about God. Agreements--could be positive with God and His Word. Could be negative agreeing with the lies and deception of our demonic enemy. |
After one year on staff in Hong Kong, the two leading Cantonese staff under the director both told me they thought I was not concerned for people and that I just wanted to use people for my own goals. It was in the presence of a counselor visitng from a Cru Faculty minitsty. I was devastated that I had failed in allowing these men to see m2 years there. e in such a critical and negative way. When I went to the director asking him to meet with the three of us and try to bring about reconciliation, he was unwilling to do so. He did not want to get involved. So I ended up leaving Hong Kong after just 2 Iyears there. I left hurt and broken with these unresolved relationships. | Ephesians 6:10-18 speaks of this warfare and how to put on the full armour of God each day. After Cru staff Jocelyn and I were trained for 4 1/2 months of live-in full time training to become Restoring the Foundations minsiters. We helped hundreds of people one at a time in RTF healing and deliverance ministry--either one three hour session or five three hour sessions. I have learned to take my authority over the enemy. I have helped people take their authority as a beloved child of God and command all demons to leave them and go far away where Jesus takes them. Greater is Jesus in me than anything in our evil world. | I heard from God the day I accepted the Lord when he assured me that He had come into my life. I have heard from God's Word and in my spirit when I made major decisions, such as applying for Cru staff, leaving Cru staff, going into healthcare chaplaincy, applying for Restoring the Foundations training, following HIm to Raliegh, then leaving Raleigh to travel the world for 16 months and then settling in the Upstate of SC to live closer to our married children and grandchildren, and then retiring in early 2022. | Yes. My Cru MDiv education taught me to listen well and how to minister to others either through a local church or through a para-church ministry. I used to meet with men in the Triangle to share each others stories. We were trained to interview each of the ministry receivers that we did RTF minstry with. The intrview helped us identify what generational curses, ungodly beliefs, ungodly identities, word curses, soul ties, hurts, and demonic oppression to minister to. | The Heart of a Warrior, Bondage Breaker, Victory over the Darkness, Wild At Heart, Fathered By God, Mere Christianity | Anytime. I would like to offer a younger man those things I did not have in hopes of avoiding many of the wounds, both worldly and self-inflicted that I suffered. I would like leave a legacy of helping God to heal hearts and then set them on fire for Him. Nothiing to prove. Nothing to hide. Nothing to fear. |
It is my wife and I and a cat. We find ourselves, more often than not, associating with younger couples. As we have both managed teams of younger adults, we woould often have them over for dinner or just to socialize. We want them to know there is a safe person that is interested in them as a person. We love to see them succeed in life and to be happy. | I have attended two "Heart of a Warrior Encouter" weekends, I have led a small men's group using the book of the same name and I am still readining "King Me". My wife Martie and I have joined a new church aand I feel God is leading me to be more invoolved with their Men's Ministries. | I was raised in a church that never gave and altar call and never talked about salvation, damnation or anything "real" when it came to the Holy Trinity. I was sent to a Christiian Middle School and there , at the age of 12, accepted Yeshua as my Savior. I was baptized, to my parents ire, soon after at the school. | I taught skydiving for 21 years. Once while ridiing to altitude a guy saw me covering my mouth and eyes closed while sitting on the floor of the plane. He could tell "somethinig" was going on and asked loudly if I was ok. One of the other divers told him to leave me alone as he knew I was praying for out safety, our jump and our landings. Later, around a campfire he asked me if I was praying, was I praying for him too. When he asked why, I explained I wanted ALL of us to make it into heaven and that this sport can arrange it really quick. I told him of my faith and how I found it. It is the one time I lead another to Yeshua. | I am very familiar with each as I learned about them in "Heart of a Warrior". Funny how you never know something is wrong until it's shown to you. Most of my wounds came from my father and most were "you'll never be enough". I agreed with that lie and that was easy as I was both small and sick with a chronic illness. However, I made a vow that I would do the things that scared ohters and that would "prove" I was good enough. | I was 18 and was biding my time until I turned 21, going to college and workinig part-time. While running errands on a Wednesday with my father, he asked me "Son, what do you want to be when you grow up?" I replied that I wanted to be a Dekalb County Police Officer. Before I could tell him the reason was because when I was a kid, I watched my father render aide to someone and that inpsired me to help others, he replied "You have to be a man to be a cop and you'll NEVER be a man" | I have found myself in spiritual warfare not only for myself but for others. It ain't over and it won't be until Yeshua comes for us. I have prayed for the spirit of fear, addiction and rage to be broken off others as well as a some for myself. This is something not to be entered into alone either so I always gather other fellow warriors to assist. | Martie and I bought our first house in 2017. Rather, God dumped it in our lap as we thought we'd never own property. Well, you know Him, he likes to show off. Not only did we get a house but some decent property with it. Enough so that I could name it. So our place is known as "Bhennaigh le Dia"; Irish for "Blessed by God". We bought in February of 2017 and that Spring, I took my first real walk on the property. We have two creeks that meet at a waterfall. I walked down there and was enjoying the warmth of the day and the new life sprouting everywhere. It was then I heard "Do you see that tree?" I said "yes". I then heard "Do you see that other tree?" "Yes, Lord". "Well, do you see that OTHER tree?" "Yes, Lord" (Mind you, I'm standing in the middle of a dense forest. Of course I could see the trees) "This land I give to you. You are to use this land and this house to allow My love to rain down on others". Ever since, we open oor home to any and all. There is ALWAYS rooom for one more and we have a guest room just for those who need to get away with God or need a safe place. | I was trained in active listening. I know to ask questions andthen shut up. We mn have been so wounded that it is almost impossible to be vulnerable. Most times in their past, when they have opened up, a family member, significant other the world has reached in and stabbed his alredy wounded heart. It is my task to create a secure environment where a man can be vulnerable. Sometimes, a simple "me too" is all it takes. The beginning of friendship starts with "What, you too? I thought I was the only one:. - C.S. Lewis |
