For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, and it pierces more sharply than a two-edged sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts.

Hebrews 4:12

Let me ask you some questions. When do you feel most alive? What are the ingredients in your greatest life experiences? Don’t they almost always involve others? When I take inventory of my life and look over my memories, the collective evidence shows me that I’m most alive when I am loving others or being loved.

From my childhood until now, my life’s best moments seem to have one common thread—being with others, enjoying them and being enjoyed by them. It is in those moments—when I am with my wife, children or a good friend and we are experiencing something together, when in the moment a word of thanks is expressed or a validating compliment is shared like, I’m so glad you’re here with me—I experience Life large and full!

We were created for relationship. That is one of the most significant ways we bear the image of our relational God. And, therefore, we are most alive when we are enjoying what we were created for.

Today I encourage you to make a list of 10-20 things that make you come alive. Things that your heart loves and longs to do. They can be hobbies, memories, aspects of your work or family or romance. Do not edit, let it flow out of you. And then ask Jesus what He sees in that list.

Search and Rescue

Search and Rescue Book Resource

We desperately need to recover the critical components of a much Larger Story, the pieces of a Larger Gospel that have been lost, misplaced, misunderstood, underestimated or worse, stolen. Search and Rescue is an invitation to look for what has been lost in our lives and more importantly, to actually be the one that needs to be searched for, rescued and restored.

In Search and Rescue, Michael Thompson encourages believers and those curious to the faith to accompany him in the quest to find the Life and the Love we were meant for… There is a Life and a Love that is looking for you. Are you ready to be found?
