Chapter 13: Loving a Woman

This is the EVERYMAN chapter. The chapter in which I want to answer the ques- tions, “How does this Beloved Son/Warrior life look in marriage?” “How does it look caring for and treating the heart of a woman?”

So many men want to win at home and do well at home, yet this is the Achilles heal for most men. This is the place men have been ill trained and ill equipped and are often overrun with heartache, regret, loss, and suffering. The devastating result is pas- sivity and/or aggression.

At every Heart of a Warrior conference, this is the session that has men on the edge of their seats. Many are compelled to engage in important conversations when they get home. Some offer sincere apologies from their heart to their wife. The masculine false self has aided the enemy for far too long in the wounding of women. It’s time to stop.

This could be a two-week chapter. I wouldn’t hesitate to advise you to slow it down if the men in your Expedition want more. Take your time ... perhaps a longer, scenic route. Go for depth, not distance.

I always thought it would be a great idea (maybe too daring) to have the wives join the group for this chapter. At least consider having the men invite their wives to read the chapter. If they do option one or two, it could be awesome to get some kind of response or feedback from the women. Invite the feminine hearts to share what they experienced reading this chapter and encourage the men to just sit back and listen. Do not interrupt, explain, or defend. Just listen.
