What most men mean when they say that they have “worked through a wounding moment” is that they have become aware of a moment and its effect on their heart and lives. That is good. But they are also saying, “I have learned to live with it.” And that is not good.

Wounding messages and moments are never okay. And while understanding them is a good thing, it isn’t the same as healing. The wounding moments came with lessons that all too often got internalized, and those lessons need to be unlearned. That is what much of our training involves: going to God to undo what was done to us.

Two questions:

  1. What wounding moments, and, more importantly, what messages that those moments inflicted on your heart, stand in the way of your freedom?
  2.
What burdens or lies do you carry in your heart about yourself, God, or others that hinder your becoming a Beloved Son?
