In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to know God, most of life's problems fall into place of their own accord.
The central Work of Christ—Cross, Resurrection, and Ascension—among many other works of Christ, accomplished something so significant, so dramatic, so transformational that “TIME” was altered … literally.
Because of the Work of Christ, the calendar received a dividing line: B.C. and A.D. It is interesting to note that “A.D." does not mean “after death,” as many people suppose. “B.C.” does stand for the English phrase “Before Christ,” but “A.D.” stands for a Latin phrase Anno Domini (translated “in the year of the Lord”) referring to the year Jesus was born, and onward. What I love about the A.D. is, it continues. Why do I love that? ...
Because Jesus continues!
I also love it because the Work of Christ not only alters time, it alters hearts. I experienced a personal B.C. and A.D. the moment I was “born again” … the time when the Life of God entered into my life and took me over, or should I say "overcame my death." Sin separates us from Life. The Work of Christ connects us to the Life of God. So significant is the alteration, our personal internal calendar is changed! We are moved from the grave (dead in our sin) to the palace, a room in the Kingdom, which Jesus is preparing as we speak! It is a move from the orphaned to adopted, from lost to found. When we get God right and we get the offer of Life right, we are made right. Amazing! This is the good news of the gospel, and yet it is just a part of the good news. Knowing God, experiencing his love ... this is Life and the ongoing work of the gospel producing in us in a day to day way that transforms us.
I pray you know the weight and significance of God’s love today and experience the transformation of your heart through His Life giving work. In Christ, we both are transformed and are being transformed (undergoing transformation). It’s a both/and. Like when we were little and we were growing into a pair of new shoes or growing into new pants, they're both ours already and we are growing into them.
To have Life, to be alive in Christ is both mine now and I am growing into it as well. Growing into the best version of me, the one He created me for and the one He intends for me is the very Life I believe and trust that I so long to be. All on a timeline that has significant moments like B.C. and A.D. but will continue because our King, Jesus, continues!
Even so consider yourselves also dead to sin and your relation to it broken, but alive to God [living in unbroken fellowship with Him] in Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:11 (AMP)
Jesus, I also embrace you as my new life, my holiness and sanctification, and I receive all the work and triumph of your Resurrection, whereby I have been raised with you to a new life, to walk in newness of life, dead to sin and alive to God. I am crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. I now take my place in your Resurrection, whereby I have been made alive with you, I reign in life through you. I now put on the new man in all holiness and humility, in all righteousness and purity and truth. Christ is now my life, the one who strengthens me. Holy Spirit, apply to me the fullness of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ for me. I receive it with thanks and give it total claim to my life. Read the Daily Prayer here.
