Warriors Weekend

#1. WHAT KIND OF CLOTHES SHOULD I PACK?

With highs in the upper 70s/low 80s, and nights in the upper 50s/low 60s, the weather should be perfect for hiking, fishing, and campfires. Plan to pack accordingly ... shorts and t-shirts for sure, and any footwear or clothes you might want for outdoor adventures—and it might be good throw a light jacket and a pair of pants in, too.

#2. WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE (AND HOW DO I GET THERE?)

Plan to arrive and check in at Wild Ridge Young Life Camp anytime after 4pm on Friday, August 23. Here is a map with directions.
According to Wild Ridge, Google Maps in the only reliable GPS that will get you there.

#3. CAN I RIDE WITH SOMEONE?

Several guys are planning to ride together. If you're interested in carpooling up to Wild Ridge with someone else, email Josh (josh@zoweh.org) ASAP so we can try to get you guys connected.

#4. DO I NEED TO BRING A PILLOW OR SHEETS OR WHATEVER?

LINENS AND TOWELS WILL BE PROVIDED, but it may be prudent to pack your own pillow and blanket/sleeping bag.

#5. WHAT KIND OF STUFF WILL THERE BE TO DO?

Our hope for this weekend is that you will BUILD FRIENDSHIP and EXPERIENCE ADVENTURE. On Saturday, we have a few activities planned down by the Gauley River (and possibly New River Gorge National Park) that include fishing and hiking.

If you are interested in fishing, please bring any fishing gear suited for river fishing that you have, along with proper shoes.

*If you don't have fishing gear, and are interested in fishing, please let Josh know as soon as possible so we can acquire gear for you.*

For hiking, we suggest bringing a water bottle and a comfy pair of closed-toe shoes or boots.

In the evenings, there will be opportunities to hang out around campfires, try your hand at some board and/or card games, and other fun activities.

#6. WHAT ELSE MIGHT I WANT TO BRING?

  • Your Bible and a journal or notebook and pen
  • A baseball glove or frisbee or stuff like that
  • Cigars/pipes (if you enjoy the finer things in life)
  • A camping chair or hammock (or whatever you like to relax in)
  • Bathing suit or other clothes you don't mind getting wet
  • Deodorant. Please.
  • Bring Your Own Beverage

*We will provide coolers and ice, bring your own soft drinks/beer to keep on ice if you desire.*
